Headteacher's Welcome

A warm welcome from myself and all at Riverside School.

We are now in our in our fifth year since opening in our newly-built space in 2011, and the school continues to go from strength to strength. With the recent addition of a new arts and music wing, we can state with confidence that we have the ideal environment and facilities to support us in ensuring that all our students achieve to the best of their ability.

However, we are fully mindful that any physical school environment is only as good as the learning community who inhabit it; its vision and values. We believe that we have got the balance right, and that our caring ethos, allied with a rigorous attention to standards of attainment and achievement, provides our student community with a rich educational experience in an idyllic setting.

We work hard to ensure that all our students, without exception, make good progress as a result of the delivery of a very broad - but differentiated and bespoke - curriculum to a very high standard. The content of what we teach, and our teaching styles, are ambitious and aspirational.

I would encourage you to look at as many of our website tabs as possible to enable you to build an informed picture of Riverside School. Our many awards are highlighted in the ‘Awards’ tab under ‘Key Information’ on our website. New parents can find the answer to most practical questions under the ‘Key Information’ tab, and the ‘Teaching and Learning’ and ‘Beyond Lessons’ will give all visitors to our website a thorough understanding of both our academic systems, and our wide extra-curricular offer.

Lastly do all please also check our Facebook page for this terms’ school news. To access this scroll down the beige-coloured column on the right-hand side of our website and click on the blue square icon with the white letter ‘f’ on it, entitled ‘Our Social Network’.

I must say that I feel privileged to lead a school so highly-regarded, and be part of a community culture featuring such high levels of mutual respect, the protection and promotion of dignity and an authentic celebration of diversity.
